Parking Policy and Inner City Zone Prohibited Area Boundaries of the Parking and Vehicle Control Bylaw 2011
The Nelson City Council Parking Policy and amendment to the Parking and Vehicle Control Bylaw was adopted by Council at its 13 December 2012 meeting.
The amendment to the Parking and Vehicle Control Bylaw was approved as notified, with a small administrative correction.
The Parking Policy was approved with the following amendment which was in response to a submission: provision was added for all day parking for mobility card holders who are working in the city.
A Statement of Proposal was released for submissions in July 2012. Submissions closed at 5pm on Friday 17 August 2012. Five submissions were received.
Council has released the draft Parking Policy and an amendment to the Parking and Vehicle Control Bylaw regarding the inner city boundary of the zone where skateboards, skating, scooters etc are prohibited, for public comment.
The proposed change to the prohibited zone will allow skateboards, roller skates, inline skates and wheeled recreational devices to travel on footpaths on the outer side of Rutherford and Collingwood Street but not on footpaths on the Central Business District side of these streets.
The draft Parking Policy ensures that Council has a consistent and transparent basis for the management of resident, carpool, reserved, mobility and senior parking spaces. It outlines the reasons for providing these parking spaces and the application procedures describe how the policy is applied.
