Drone Consent Request

Commercial and recreational users of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS or 'Drones') need to apply for the appropriate consent to operate on Council owned or operated land.

Operators can contact Customer Service on 546 0200 or come in to Civic House and register over the counter. Alternatively, you can fill out the form below.

Applicants will need to list the properties (e.g. parks, sports grounds, playgrounds, etc.) and a description of the RPAS they will use, including the weight. This gives applicants consent to operate until March of the following year, at which time they will need to re-register.

Applicants will be given a consent showing they have permission to operate RPASs in the specified areas and will need to present it when asked.

Operators need to be 16 years or over to apply for consent. Those under 16 will need a supervisor to register for them and then oversee the flights.

Applicants will receive an email giving them consent to fly on Council land. Customer Service will provide applicants with a printed consent.
