Nelson Safer Community Council

The Nelson Safer Community Council (NSCC) supports projects and strategies that enhance the safety of the city and brings agencies together with a view to collaborating.

What is Safe City Nelson?

Safe City Nelson is a Nelson City Council project with many initiatives to enhance safety and particularly to keep our young people free from harm as they enjoy night time activities in the city.

At Nelson Safer Community Council (NSCC) December 2012 Annual General Meeting, the NSCC altered its constitution to become a close working partner with Safe at the Top, the WHO International Safe Communities local Nelson branch.  The major change to the constitution was that the NSCC will dedicate itself to keeping Nelson safe from injury as well as from crime.  This change means that the Nelson Safer Community Council will no longer holds quarterly meetings but larger community meetings will be held on an as-needed basis.  The Management Team still meets regularly - 6 weekly - and is project oriented.

We are working on these issues and making progress on well thought out initiatives that are focused on getting results.
