Fares & Zone Map
The fare tables below apply to NBus services around town and between Nelson and Richmond. You simply pay for the number of zones you travel through. For example, a trip from central Nelson to Richmond travels through 4 zones so will cost an adult $4. A trip from Nelson to Tahunanui only travels through two zones so will cost an adult $3.

Fare Zone One includes all of the Nelson central city area down to Richardson Street on the Tahunanui route and to Boundary Road on the Bishopdale route.
Fare Zone Two includes all stops south of Richardson Street to Quarantine Road, and all stops from Boundary Road to Quarantine Road.
Fare Zone Three includes all stops south of Quarantine Road to Saxton Field.
Fare Zone Four includes all stops south of Saxton Field.
The Stoke Loop represents one fare zone.
These zones do not apply to the night bus services. On this service all trips cost a flat fare of $4.
- Children aged under 5 travel free.
- A child fare applies to anyone aged between 5 and 15 or enrolled in secondary school while wearing a school uniform or on production of a school ID card.
- The student/CS card holder fare applies to those aged 18 and under or enrolled in a Nelson or Tasman tertiary institution on production of an ID card, and Community Services Card holders on production of their card.
- Holders of SuperGold Cards can travel for free on off-peak services (9am-3pm and after 6.30pm weekdays and all weekend). Outside of these hours a full fare must be paid.
Multi trip tickets
10 and 30 multi trip tickets are available from SBL Group Ltd, 27 Bridge Street, Nelson, the Nelson, Stoke and Richmond libraries, the Nelson City Council office, 110 Trafalgar Street, Nelson, and the Tasman District Council office at 189 Queen Street, Richmond.
10 trip and 30 trip tickets can be purchased for 1, 2, 3, or 4 zones.
A Day Pass is available to anyone for $10 and allows unlimited travel on all daytime services. Ask the driver for a Day Pass.
Holders of SuperGold Cards can travel free on all off-peak NBus services (that is, services running between 9am and 3pm and after 6.30pm weekdays, and all weekend services).
The SuperGold Card is available to all eligible New Zealanders aged 65 or over and those under this age who receive NZ Superannuation or the Veterans Pension. For more information, go to www.supergold.govt.nz.
Note: SuperGold Card holders must still pay fares for trips before 9am or after 3pm on weekdays.
