Council’s new Principal Development Adviser service is designed to help developers navigate their way through Council processes for more complex types of development.
This service is provided at no cost to the developer, however normal application fees and charges apply including other staff time.
Having a discussion with a senior member of Council’s resource consents team (and other relevant Council officers) can be especially helpful if your development project is not straightforward. Examples of projects that would benefit from this service include:
- Commercial (including non-residential activities within or adjoining living zones)
- Multi-residential
- Large scale or complex subdivisions
- Change of use (e.g. residential home into a shop)
- Intensified development e.g. backyard infill
Developers provide the Principal Development Adviser with a draft application. The adviser then meets with relevant Council staff on the developer’s behalf, summarises Council feedback on what the final application should include, and then project managers all approval processes with Council.
The aim is to ensure Council processes for developers are streamlined, and a co-ordinated and efficient consenting process is provided.
To book a meeting the Principal Development Adviser phone Nelson City Council on 03 546 0200.
