Under the Litter Act, a person can face prosecution for dumping a vehicle. Council has successfully prosecuted in the past. The dumping of unwanted vehicles is an ongoing problem.

How you can help

Normally there is another vehicle involved, either towing the dumped vehicle or picking up the offender(s). To help, you can:

  • Record the vehicle registration number, make, model and colour
  • A description of people involved
  • Date and time the vehicle was dumped

If you see a car being dumped, please contact the Parking Team on +64 3 546 0200. Council is only able to prosecute if the vehicle dumping is actually witnessed.
