Approved Temporary Road Closure - Van Diemen Street
Nelson City Council has received a proposal from Fulton Hogan to temporarily close the following road/s to ordinary traffic between the dates listed below:
Van Diemen Street – between Waimea Road and Rutherford Street
Ngatiawa Street – at the intersection with Van Diemen Street
Date and time of scheduled closure: Monday 31 March to Thursday 24 April 2025 – 7:00 am to 6:00 pm (at times, specific sections of the street will be closed 24 hours)
Contingency dates and times when closure may occur: Sufficient time has been scheduled to take into account any weather delays that may occur. Please note, some of this work has been planned to occur during the school holidays.
The closure is for water pump maintenance, wastewater pipe repairs, and road maintenance.
- Vehicle access for residents/businesses, couriers and home help will be available, but please be prepared for delays.
- The road will be closed in stages to minimise disruption and maintain access for residents - please follow the directions of signage and onsite staff.
- No roadside parking will be available within the worksites. Rubbish and recycling bin collection will be managed by onsite staff and pedestrian access will be provided safely.
- Work will not take place on public holidays i.e. Easter Friday/Monday & Anzac Day
- On days when specific tasks, such as excavation of the road, are being carried out, sections of the road will be closed for 24 hours. These closures will be clearly signposted.
