Heavy Rain Warning - Orange

An Orange heavy rain warning has been issued for Nelson this Thurs 3 April. Prepare for heavy rainfall and the possibility of rapidly rising rivers, streams and surface flooding. Please keep gutters and drains on your property clear. We will share updates here and on our Facebook page.

Dog Licence and Registration

All dogs who are (or will be) three months of age or more on 1 July 2024 must have a current registration.

Registrations are due on 30 June 2024. required to be renewed annually by the same date.

There is a grace period of up to one month, however failure to register your dog before 31 July will incur an infringement fine as well as late registration fee.

Dogs can be registered online or by using the form below and returning it to Council. Please note that tags will be sent by post when you register online.

Updating your dog registration

You need to update your dog's registration:

  • if ownership of the dog changes
  • your address changes
  • in the event of the dog's death

Once complete, both forms can be returned by post to Nelson City Council, PO Box 645, Nelson or by hand to the Customer Service Centre, Civic House, 110 Trafalgar Street, Nelson.
