Strategic Housing Adviser

The Strategic Housing Adviser is responsible for working towards Nelson City Council’s goal to help increase housing supply in Nelson. They provide strategic advice to the council on its housing objectives, including:

  • How the council can support increased housing supply and intensification
  • Allocating the funds in the council’s Housing Reserve so they can support affordable housing projects
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with housing providers, developers, consultants, and others who work in Nelson’s development sector.
  • Identifying the council's property with the potential to be transformed into affordable housing
  • Working alongside Kainga Ora and other providers to achieve the council’s housing goals
