Wakapuaka Crematorium

Nelson City Council owns the crematorium and contracts out its operation. There are two cremators and a chapel. Families are able to use the chapel for committal services, but most people in Nelson tend to opt for services in churches or funeral directors' chapels.

Opening Hours

The crematorium is open weekdays 9.00am to 3.30pm, but can be opened at weekends by request, as agreed with the Cremator Operator who can be contacted on 03 545 1139. Wherever possible people's requests are met when they fall inside the crematorium’s consented operation hours.
