Council has produced a brochure – ‘How to wash your paint brushes safely’ to help prevent paint getting into our streams when people wash their painting equipment into stormwater drains. You can download a copy of the brochure here. The brochures are also available at paint retailers in Nelson, so look for one when you buy your paint.
You can wash your brushes safely by using the two-bucket system – see the diagram below – and disposing of the paint solids in your household rubbish.
