Do I need a consent?
Before any works begin you need to determine whether a resource consent is required. To ascertain whether a consent it needed, your proposal must be assessed against the relevant rules under the Nelson Resource Management Plan (NRMP), the Nelson Air Quality Plan, the Resource Management Act (RMA) or other applicable Planning Documents.
Once the relevant rules are identified, you need to prepare and submit an application for the specific Resource Consent type which apply to your activity.
Lodging a good application should ensure a smoother faster process. An incomplete or inadequate application, where more information needs to be requested, will usually result in more delays and costs.
