Rates Remissions for Heritage Buildings

Applications for heritage building rates remissions have now closed for 2023.

Nelson City Council offers these rates remissions to encourage the retention and maintenance of heritage buildings in Nelson. All owners of heritage buildings listed as either Group A or Group B in the Nelson Resource Management Plan who register a commitment to maintaining their buildings are eligible for the remission.

Note: Applications closed at 5pm on 31 August 2023. No late applications will be considered. Applicants who successfully applied in 2022 or 2021 were not required to reapply until the next three-year cycle.

Council will advise property owners who will receive the rates remission for 2023 in September.
