Proposed Temporary Closure - Torlesse Street
Nelson City Council has received a proposal from Nelmac to temporarily close the following road/s to ordinary traffic between the dates listed below:
Torlesse Street – full length
Date and time of scheduled closure: Monday 24 February to Wednesday 26 February 2025 – 8:00 am to 6:00 pm (the road will be open overnight from 6:00 pm)
Contingency dates and times when closure may occur: Monday 3 March to Wednesday 5 March 2025 – 8:00 am to 6:00 pm
The closure is for investigation work before the installation of a new water main. The work will involve digging holes to confirm the location of underground pipes.
Vehicle access for residents/businesses, couriers and home help will be available as follows:
- Two-lane section – access will be available at all times.
- One-lane section – expect delays when they are working in this section due to the limited space – please follow directions of staff - they will allow access as quickly as possible.
- Roadside parking will be available – except within the work zones (you will be advised by staff as these zones shift)
- Rubbish and recycling bins will be collected as normal and pedestrian access will be provided safely.
To understand how this closure could impact residents/businesses, Council is seeking feedback on this proposal by 13 February 2025.
